One of the greatest fears among seniors, their families, and their care-givers is that of falling. The reality is that the more falls you experience the more likely you are to fall again, and therefore increase the chance of breaking a hip, a shoulder, arm, or wrist!

All broken bones require immediate Emergency Room care ... in fact it's one of the most common reasons for seniors to visit the ER! Broken hips require immediate emergency hip surgery or  replacement, no matter what the patient's overall health condition. Unfortunately an emergency surgery is much more dangerous than a elective hip surgery. In fact the US Center for Disease Control states that 30% of patients die from complications of emergency hip replacement surgery within a year!

This horrible statistic is unacceptable to patients, doctors, and the government, alike. In an attempt to reduce falls, the US Government is encouraging education of  doctors and patients of the alternative possibilities  ... beginning with the most logical choice of PREVENTION.

Multiple studies reveal that education regarding improved safety, early detection of balance problems, and rehabilitation of the dizzy or off-balance patient is the BEST Prevention we know.

Dizziness & Falls are some of the most Mis-understood and Under-treated conditions in the US!

Both doctors and patients are frustrated by lack of treatment centers and therefore many patients have nowhere to go to receive specialized FALL Prevention care ... if your Doctor has nowhere to send you for care, how can you get help?

That's why "A Patient's Guide to Fall Prevention and Balance Correction" was written ... for the patient who wants to know more about their condition in layman's terms, and what they can do for themselves to improve their balance and/or reduce their dizziness at home, without first seeking help from a medical professional, who may or may not be available in their immediate area.
